One cool trick I know is how to get your blog post indexed in Google in minutes. Who wants to wait for the Googlebot to come around, taking its time to get your post in search results?
I’d much rather take charge and get Google’s attention right away. Then, I can go back to creating content and building my sites.
So here’s a very quick and easy way to get your blog post indexed in Google. Open up a new tab and follow along with me!
And so that you can see I’m not indexed yet, let’s type the title of my blog post into Google and see if it’s there:
Nope! Let’s fix that, shall we?
First, let’s go to go to google.com/webmasters/tools/submit-url. You could also just type in “google submit url” and do a search:
Next we type in the URL of the page we want indexed, prove we’re not a robot, and click on “Submit Request”:
After doing this, I see a message that says:
And that’s all there is to it!
Now, I’ve heard that some pages are indexed in minutes after doing this. I was going to watch how long it took and tell you to-the-minute when I was indexed, but…I got busy with other things and forgot to check until the next day.
But sure enough:
My page is now indexed and shows in the #1 position. Now I’m not going to get too excited that I rank for that specific post in the top spot, but the fact that it does is a good sign and I’ll take the small win.
You’re going to realize that you are not going to want to do this for every post. But I would do it with your early pages, maybe those pages you deem to be important or really high value.
I’ll even forget all about indexing my blog post and just create content. Eventually, I’ll get indexed naturally and if I post frequently, Google is going to visit frequently and keep updating its information.
This really is a technique just for getting the ball rolling.
