Lawyers for Sam Bankman-Fried Request Concealment of $250M Bail Co-Signers’ Identities Citing Privacy and Safety Concerns

Lawyers for Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX, have requested that the names and identifying information of the two co-signers for his $250 million bail be redacted, according to court filings from Tuesday. The lawyers cited privacy and safety concerns as their reasons for the request, stating that Bankman-Fried’s parents “have received a steady stream of threatening correspondence, including communications expressing a desire that they suffer physical harm.” The lawyers also indicated that there is a concern that the two additional sureties could face similar threats and harassment if their names are publicly disclosed. Bankman-Fried was indicted on charges including money laundering and conspiracy to commit wire fraud in November and was extradited to the U.S. from the Bahamas in December. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in New York.
